Privacy Policy for Right Click and Copy

Effective date: August 28, 2026

Plain-language summary: Right Click and Copy works locally in your browser. When you change a site setting, the extension stores that website’s hostname in Chrome local storage so it can remember your choice. This information stays on your device and is never transmitted, sold, or used for advertising. Selected text and page content are not saved.

Scope

This policy describes how the Right Click and Copy Chrome extension handles information. The extension’s single purpose is to restore native browser interactions—right-click context menus, text selection, copying, and optional dragging—on supported websites that attempt to disable them.

Information handled

Site preferences and browsing activity: The extension stores its enabled state and lists of hostnames on which you explicitly disable the extension or enable Strong Mode. A hostname may reveal a website with which your browser interacts, so this policy treats it as browsing-activity data. These preferences remain in chrome.storage.local on your device.

Website content and interaction events: To restore browser behavior, the extension locally processes page styles, selection state, and browser events such as context-menu, copy, selection, and drag events. It may temporarily retain a browser selection range in memory for up to approximately 1.5 seconds when Strong Mode is active. It does not read that range into a separate database, save selected text, capture page content, or transmit either one.

The extension does not collect personally identifiable information, authentication information, financial information, health information, form data, personal communications, precise location, or user-generated content.

How information is used

Locally stored settings and hostnames are used only to provide the extension’s user-facing per-site Enable and Strong Mode controls. Transient page interaction processing is used only to restore the browser actions described above.

Information is not used for analytics, profiling, advertising, marketing, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.

Sharing, sale, and transmission

The extension makes no network requests and sends no user data to its developer, third parties, or external servers. Information is not sold, licensed, rented, or transferred. No developer or other human can access information stored by the extension on your device.

Permissions

Storage: Used to remember the extension’s enabled state and the hostnames for which you explicitly change Enable or Strong Mode.

Access to websites: The content script must be available on regular websites because any website can attempt to disable selection, copying, dragging, or the context menu. This access is used locally only for the extension’s disclosed functionality. Chrome-protected pages such as chrome:// URLs do not allow the extension to run.

Retention and deletion

Preferences remain in Chrome local storage until you change the relevant setting, clear the extension’s stored data, or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage according to Chrome’s normal behavior.

Security

All executable code is included in the installed extension package. The extension uses no remotely hosted code, external API, analytics service, or advertising service. Because the extension does not transmit user data, no user data is sent over a network.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide or improve the extension’s disclosed single purpose. It is not transferred except as permitted by that policy.

Children’s privacy

The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users. It does not require an account or ask for a name, email address, age, or similar information.

Changes to this policy

If the extension’s information-handling practices change, this policy and any required store or in-product disclosures will be updated before the new handling begins. The effective date above will also be revised.
